My SMART goal was saving energy and keeping my electric/heating bill down. This week I was tempted to actually turn the heat on because it would get slightly colder during the night. Then I thought: "Nah, I can get through just one more night--maybe one more week? I just need to get another blanket, that's all." Maybe wear more clothes? Haha!
I do find myself going around the apartment turning off the lights in rooms that my roommate forgot to do so. One night I came home and found that he didn't turn off the OVEN for five hours after baking his apple pie!!! I was soooooo pissed! 1) The whole building could have burned down and 2) That's wayyy too much energy being used on nothing.
Also, this week we both got a little kitten. Not sure how that would play in to saving energy...(hmmmm, question mark).
First off, Adorable kitten!!! Now, I have guilty once or twice before for leaving the oven on, not good, especially if you're trying to save energy. haha! But I do have a tip or two for you, that could help you keep up with your goal. I have recently discovered flannel sheets for your bed, SO warm! I also wear lots of sweatshirts and sweatpants and always have a blanket at hand. Along with my flannel sheets, I have additional 2 blankets and a comforter, that just may be me though. I love sleeping with a lot blankets. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the sleeping with a ton of blankets! I turn the heat off and a fan on just so it's cold enough to have as many blankets as possible. Maybe the kitten (very cute by the way) will warm up the apartment more with all the extra body heat! Another tip I have for you is that if you guys ever make stuff in the over, after it's done and you shut the oven off leave the door ajar so the heat fills up the house. No sense in leaving the door shut and trapping it all in the oven after it's done!

ReplyDeleteCute little kitten! Way to motivate yourself to keep the heat off! I definitely sleep with sweatpants and a sweatshirt on every night. I usually change into comfy, warm clothes right when I get home at night. I like Caleb's idea about keeping he oven door open after baking something! Think of how warm your place could have been if the door would have been open for 5 hours. Ha although, that would have been way more energy use!
